Skiing in Meribel

With a reputation as one of the world's top ski resorts, Meribel has everything you could want for your ski holiday:
- Unrivalled Three Valleys ski area with 600km of linked pistes
- A vibrant atmosphere in resort
- Great for shopping
- Plenty of activities for all ages
- Beautiful mountain scenery
- Easy to access from major airports & train stations
Meribel welcomes skiers from all over the world who come to experience not only the incredible high-altitude skiing, but also the fun and friendly atmosphere in the villages that make up this famous resort.
The four Chalets du Hameau are located in Le Raffort, a tranquil area of Meribel which is served by the ‘Olympe' gondola which takes our guests directly to the slopes.
• The 3 Valleys - The biggest skiing area in the world 8 resorts:
Méribel • Courchevel • La Tania • Brides-les-Bains • Les Ménuires • Val Thorens • Orelle • Saint Martin de Belleville.
• Skiing Area with 600 km of linked ski runs accessible to skiers of every level
• 330 runs: 13% green, 39% blue, 38% red, and 10% black.
With a long season running from mid-December until late April, skiers and snowboarders can access the whole of the 600km of pistes that make up the Three Valleys, which includes skiing up to 3230m altitude.
For beginners: There are designated areas which make Meribel ideal for new skiers and snowboarders. The gentle green runs by the Altiport and in Mottaret have been created for beginners, with a ‘minipass' available for those able to venture further afield to try blue runs. Children will enjoy spotting the local wildlife sculptures on the ‘Piste des Animaux' and the fun runs through the Yeti Park. There's also a tubing air bag!
For intermediates: With a huge number of blue and red runs, intermediates are spoilt for choice in Meribel. With a local area pass there are many pistes that can take you to pretty Meribel Village or up to the stunning views from Mont Vallon. Enjoy the runs around Tougnete, Roc de Fer, Col de la Chambre and Marches which all link over to the neighbouring valley which includes Les Menuires, St Martin de Belleville and Val Thorens. On the opposite side of the valley there are plenty of blue and red pistes with lifts linking over into the Courchevel Valley via Col de la Loze and La Saulire. To access Courchevel and the Belleville valley (incl Val Thorens) then a Three Valleys pass is required.
For experts and snow park areas: If you like a challenge on the slopes, then the Three Valleys' sheer size will provide an opportunity to exercise your ski legs. Should the 107 red runs not be a sufficient challenge, then there are 35 black runs on which to test your mettle! We're also lucky enough to have 46 fun areas and snowparks, with the legendary DC AREA 43 a breeding ground for serious freestyle talent. There are some seriously big kickers and a half pipe, as well as some less daunting jumps and boxes for ‘rookies'!
For children: We have plenty of opportunity for giggles galore in the fun park areas. Choose from the Yeti Park, Inuit Piste, Animal Piste, Moon Wild and the accessible Element Park. You can spot dragons hiding in the snow around the Meribel Village area and the Turn&Run area is a fun boardercross with tunnels and mini half-pipes.

Activities & Culture in Meribel

- THE VILLAGES OF MERIBEL
The four Chalets du Hameau are located in the Meribel village of Le Raffort, served by the ‘Olympe' gondola. This peaceful, pretty village is a lovely place from which to experience this famous resort.
The valley of Meribel has various village resorts from 1450-1750m altitude, which are linked by ski runs as well as a free bus service. The centre of Meribel is the largest village in the resort, and is home to plentiful shops, bars and restaurants as well as the Olympic centre which houses a swimming pool, ice-skating rink, gym and spa as well as a climbing wall. You'll also find a bowling alley for entertainment away from the slopes, and films are shown in the auditorium at the Tourist Office.
A legendary shopping resort, you'll find a plethora of ski and sport shops alongside fashion, footwear, gifts and souvenirs galore. For food shopping, as well as three supermarkets you'll find delicatessens, bakeries and wine specialists.
- MERIBEL ACTIVITIES
As one of the world's most famous ski resorts, you can be sure you'll have plenty to keep you entertained during your stay in Meribel.
Away from the slopes we are lucky to have the Olympic Centre which is home to a lovely spa, a gym area and a large swimming pool which has lanes as well as a slide and an infant pool. The spa includes a steam room, sauna, jacuzzi and relaxation room with herbal tea bar.
Within the Olympic Centre there's also an ice-skating rink which is open daily from 2pm and in the evenings often has ice hockey matches which make exciting entertainment. Also part of the Olympic Centre is the bowling alley ‘Le Canadien', open from 2pm.
The Tourist Office is home to an auditorium which shows the latest films in French or English (‘VOST') at 9pm each evenings.
For a spot of culture during your holiday, Meribel has a museum which is located in Les Allues and is home to all manner of agricultural and ski-related artefacts which illustrate the farming and skiing history of this fascinating village.
In Le Raffort, near the Restaurant Le Martagon car park, we are proud to have the beautifully-restored watermill and sawmill which offer an insight into the rural history of Meribel.
For walkers, we would highly recommend a stroll around the beautiful Lac Tueda, just above Meribel Mottaret. Famed as one of France's best fly-fishing locations, in the winter you'll find walkers enjoying the stunning scenery and a peaceful bite to eat in the restaurant. A lovely visitors' centre next to the restaurant has a great display covering the local flora and fauna.
Snow-shoes can be hired from the local sports shops and it's a fantastic way to explore your surroundings at a slower pace.
For massage and beauty therapy, we can organise a specialist to visit you in the chalet which is a luxurious way to feel pampered.
If you enjoy the rush of adrenalin, then why not try paragliding? A truly memorable experience, you'll take off with your skis or snowboard from the top of La Saulire or Loze with a qualified tandem paragliding guide and take in the incredible vistas from high above the skiers on the slopes below.
It's also possible to book a snowmobiling trip. Like a motorbike on skis, this exhilerating experience is open to 1-2 adults after the lifts have shut, and even to children on a specially designated piste.
